• The well-known fact that kinetin, when applied to leaves, inhibits or completely prevents the regeneration and growth of roots especially of leaf-cuttings is attributed to the capacity of kinetin to inhibit the migration of amino acids and other sub-stances from the leaf-blades. This effect of kinetin manifests itself also in relation to auxin. It was thus inferred that kinetin plays an important role in those systems which decisively influence the correlations between the organs.
