Inhibitors of cytoplasmic polyribosome function and chloroplast polyribosome function were used to study the site of synthesis of the five subunits of coupling factor I (CF_1) in Pisum sativum. The results of these in vivo experiments are presented as evidence for the cytoplasmic synthesis of two subunits, C and D, and the synthesis in the chloroplast of the other three, A, B and E.
