The absence of oxygen had no effect on the photoinduced conidiation of Trichoderma, a system (unlike previously used systems) where the transient photoinduction and the prolonged respiratory oxygen requirements are separable. The nature of the presumably ubiquitous blue-light absorbing pigment is not restricted to those requiring oxygen.
