• Tissue extracts of various plants actively bleached chlorophyll in the presence of linoleic or linolenic acid. The activity of lipoxidase (linoleate : oxygen oxidoreductase, E.C. 1 . 13. 1 . 13) was necessary for this process, but our experiments provided no evidence for the participation of hydroperoxide isomerase, as has been suggested by other authors.
