Cuttings incubated with 6-benzyladenine showed extensive cell division and tracheid differentiation in the cortex and root primordia did not form. The histological and enzyme data suggest that the formation of isoperoxidases is associated with the early differentiation of specialized parenchyma cells involved in the formation of root primordia.
