Glycolate excretion by Anacystis nidulalls : effect of HCO_3^- concentration, oxygen concentration and light intensity

Anacystis nidulans exhibited a light-dependent glycolate excretion which occurred at a maximum rate in the absence of added HCO_3^- and in the presence of high oxygen concentration. At high light intensity excretion was linear from the beginning of the illumination period. Low light intensity simply delayed the onset of excretion but did not affect the rate of excretion once it began. Glycolate excretion was sensitive to photosynthesis inhibitors but was insensitive to isonicotinyl hydrazide.
