Kinetin-like substances were separated from the root exudate of rice plants. Their biological activities were estimated by a chlorophyll preservation test and a cell-division promoting activity. Ethanolic extracts of the root exudate contained three active substances. The chromatographic behaviour of these substances are similar to those of zeatin, and its nucleoside and nucleotide.
