• Ethrel increased the number of roots on mung bean hypocotyl cuttings under continuous illumination but decreased their length. IAA, GA_3, kinetin and TIBA inhibited both the number and length. Inhibitory effect of GA_3 and kinetin on root number was overcome by ethrel but on root length was enhanced. Ethrel in combination with IAA promoted the number and length of roots synergistically but enhanced the inhibitory effect of TIBA on both.
