• Miocene Pyroclastic rocks, mainly composed of glassy tuffs, are distributed at Futatsui-machi, Yamamoto-gun, Akita Prefecture. Japan. The clinoptilolite in these rocks is altered product from volcanic glass. The X-ray powder data of this clinoptilolite agrees well with that of the specimen Patagonia, and all diffraction peaks of the heated material at 900℃,disappear except 4Å of cristobalite. In differential thermal analysis, only one endothermic peak is observed between 100℃ and 300℃. The cation exchange capacity is 150〜180 m. e./100 g. This clinoptilolite is a soda-rich variety, by their chemal anslyses, and electron micrographs show that this specimen is platy shape.
