Clay mineralogical composition of a composite profile of the Kanto Loam Formation near Narimasu determined by the X-ray diffraction resulted as follows; The uppermost humic soil and Tachikawa Loam were dominated by allophane with a little quantities of 14Å minerals. he Musashino Loam was composed by halloysite with allophane, the uppermost buried soil horizon being characterized by the relatively high crystallinity of halloysite, and the intercalated Tokyo pumice bed by allophane. The Shimosueyoshi Loam was dominated by halloysite associated with 14Å minerals, the uppermost buried soil horizon being weathered to the more advanced stage. These results supported as a whole the prevailing information.
