A phase separation type single pickup tube color camera has been newly developed. This pickup tube has a built-in RGB stripe filter and the Electronic Indexing Electrode which produces phase reference signal of the identical frequency with the color signals. The electronic Indexing Electrode is a pair of inter-digitated transparent electrodes formed on the inner surface of the faceplate on which the photoconductive layer is deposited. Small positive and negative offset voltages with respect to the normal target voltage are superimposed on these electrodes, and the polarity of these voltages is alternated by every holizontal line period. Additional charge or discharge in the photoconductive layer capacitance occures when scanned by the electron beam, to produce the indexing signal mixed with the desired color signals. The color signals are easily separated by the line correlation process using a one-H delay line. The new camera features high color fidelity, high resolution, high stability, and easy operation.
