A CAD software which can be used in the design of electron guns for CRT has been developed. A deformable-mesh finite difference method was adopted in 3D electrostatic field computation. In the simulation of near-cathode region, Weber-Nynomiya model was used. The initial transverse and longitudinal velocity of electron is concerned in this method. It's more strictly. Comparisons with the results of measurements for a 17" CDT show that the average aspect ratios of beam spot diameters agree within 25%, and the optimum focus voltages to within 50V.
