The association of riboflavin tetrabutyrate (RTB) in solution was studied by infrared, ^1H-nuclear magnetic resonance and emission spectra. In CCl_4,hydrogen bonds and stacking between isoalloxazine rings of RTB were observed, and in CHCl_3 the solvation to RTB mainly took place. Both the solvation and stacking of RTB were observed in (CD_3)_2CO, CD_3OD, and CH_3OH over a wide range of the concentration of RTB. The maxima in emission spectra of RTB solution were respectively attributed to RTB monomer and associated molecules by stacking.
