The rate alkaloid formation in Datura tatula L. was observed employing ^<15>N as a tracer element. The up-take of ^<15>N in the alkaloid in the leaves of the test plant was preceded by that in protein. A marked difference was also shown between the rate of formation of hyoscyamine and that of scopolamine during the two weeks' experimental cultivation.
