Four New Meconematine Species of the Genus Leptoteratura (Orthoptera, Tettigoniidae) from the Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan

Four new species of the genus Leptoteratura are described and illustrated from the Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan, i.e. jona and digitata endemic to Okinawa-jima Island, yaeyamana to both Iriomote-jima and Ishigaki-jima Islands, and taiwana to Taiwan, with a brief note on their possible speciation. This is the first record of the genus from these islands. Males of the four species are clearly distinguished from one another and from albicornis, the only known species of the genus, by the shape of cerci, while their females closely resemble one another, though also distinguished from albicornis by the shape of ovipositor. Though the males have become considerably differentiated, the four new species seem to belong the same species group, the taiwana group, in view of the morphology of male cerci and the shape of ovipositor.
