A new saproxylophilous trechine beetle belonging to the Agonotrechus series is described from the subalpine zone of central Taiwan. It closely resembles Iga in general appearance, but is probably closer to Lamprotrechus, both from high mountains of Southwest Japan. A new genus is erected for the new species, which is named Taiwanotrechus subglobosus.
