A New Species of Simulium (Eusimulium) (Diptera, Simuliidae) from Hokkaido, Japan

Description and illustrations of a new species of the genus Simulium LATREILLE collected from Hokkaido are given on adult, pupal and larval stages. The new species is easily recognized to be a member of the vernum-group of the subgenus Eusimulium by the shape of male genitalia. This species is distinguishable from the other members of the group by the combination of the characters : male and female genitalia, pupal respiratory organ and cocoon, larval coloration, head spots, cleft and hairy abdominal cuticule.
