The adults of Neope niphonica BUTLER emerging in spring are the spring-form and those emerging in summer are the summer-form. However, the Ebino population of N. niphonica is different from other local populations in the seasonal sequence of adult forms : young adults of both forms were simultaneously observed in summer. In order to make the cause of their concurrent occurrence clear, the responses of the Ebino population to photoperiod and temperature were tested. This species showed a response of long-day type with the critical daylength of about 14 hours and 30 minutes. For the development from the egg to adult stage the thermal threshold was 4℃ and the thermal constant was 1, 070 degreedays. From these data photothermographs were drawn in order to predict the seasonal life cycle. It was predicted that N. niphonica could produce two generations in a year, but that the progeny of the spring-form adults emerging in summer would not complete development before winter. It was inferred that the concurrent occurrence of the two seasonal forms at Ebino was due to the overwintering population being consisted of two different stages, larvae and pupae.
