When Martynov revised the classification of the family Phryganeidae in 1924, he erected the genus Regina selecting Holostomis regina MacLachlan as the typespecies. Afterwards, in 1930, he proposed the name Eubasilissa for this genus, due to the reason that the generic name Regina was preoccupied by a genus of American snake. In the present genus may be recognized three species, regina (MacLachlan), reginella (Nakahara), and imperialis (Nakahara), in Japan. However two species described by Nakahara were treated as aberrant forms of regina by some research workers. Having examined the specimens deposited at both the Hokkaido University and the Hokkaido National Agricultural Experiment Station, I came to conclude that Nakahara's two species were valid. In the foregoing pages I compared the morphological characteristics of three species mentioned above.
