The brood cell provisioning and oviposition of Cephalotrigona femorata (Smith) was observed, both under queenright and orphan conditions. This species differs in numerous behavior characters from three other stingless bees (Melipona compressipes manaosensis Schwarz, M. seminigra merrillae Cockerell and Nannotrigona (Scaptotrigona) postica Latreille), especially as follows : 1) Each process is singular but successive processes often appear at brief intervals, 2) Queen fixation is characterized by alternate head insertions by queen and by workers, 3) Queen Oviposition is very rapid, 4) Worker oviposition is of the type of N. postica, though the eggs are not so conspicuously deformed as in the latter, 5) In the cell closure or operuculation, the rotation phase is relatively short. Worker oviposition under orphan conditions was, as in Partamona (Partamona) testacea testacea (Klug) remarkable in its irregular sequence. The operuculation without rotation was observed in the latter case.
