• The present paper deals with the Acridoidea fauna excluding Tetrigidae of the Amami Islands, which comprise Amami-Oshima, Kikaigashima, Tokunoshima, Okinoerabujima and Yoronjima. The Acridoidea fauna under investigation includes 15 species belonging to 14 genera. Brief descriptions are given regarding eight interesting species in these islands. Most of those have a wide range of distribution in south-east Asia. But one unidentified species, Fruhstorferiola (?) sp., may be endemic to the Ryukyu Islands. These species herein listed will be studied thoroughly in near future.
