Conventional Stimulant meal, such as yolk of egg and fatty meal, employed to get informations about the function of gall-bladder contraction and to take X-ray photograph as a part of X-ray diagnosis of gall-bladder, often causes (the examinee) difficulty of swallowing which may result in unsuccess in examination. Trying Sorbitol as a substituent, we examined the state of contraction and the appearance of X-ray image of bile duct comparing Sorbitol's case with the usual case of yolk. Each stimulants was given to examinee with normal, disorder-free image, respectively, which was followed by taking X-ray photography of the state of contraction under time range 5-45 minutes. Calculations were made applying chronovolumetric curve on the basis of the system of J. Toulet. Results : In the case with Sorbitol, contraction effect was observed with lesser degree than yolk, whereas observation indicative of rather effective image appearance of bile duct as eri bable to atony was also obtained. On the view point of advantage in taking and pharmacological effect (effect on the organic disorder in connection with the phisiological function of gall-bladder contraction→Oddi's sphincteratony), we may conclude Sorbitol has many merits and can be used successfully as a substituent.
