Authors have tried to cut with a consumable electrode type water jet method, which uses no shielding gas at all and high pressure water jetted at the cut portion to blow the molten metal away. Welder was 1000 A MG Type with constant voltage characteristic, and mild steel thickness from 9 mm to 30 mm, stainless steel thickness from 8 mm to 45 mm and aluminum thickness from 8 mm to 55 mm were used in our program. As the results of cutting that was carried out 0.2 m depth under fresh water, it became clear that this method was excellent, that is, in points of high quality cut surface, fast cutting speed, narrow kerf width even if heavy thickness, low energy consumption for cutting, high safty under water, easy operation, cutting of various metals and continuous wire cutting.
