The biology of Feltiella sp. (probably tetranychi Rubsaamen) was studied in 1966-67 at Kagoshima. The larva of this species preys on various species of the leaf spider mite, namely, Tetranychus urticae, Panonychus citri, Oligonichus sp., etc. The number of mites (Tetranychus sp.) killed by one larva was 32.3 adults and 18 eggs as average (8 instances ; in January). The larva and cocoon (prepupa or pupa) of the midge were found throughout the year (this may be true of the adult and egg). The duration of egg, larva, and prepupa+pupa is shown in Tables 5-7 (5 : egg ; 6 : larva except prepupa ; 7 : prepupa+pupa ; a : number of individuals examined ; b : date of oviposition, hatching, or pre-pupation ; c : number of days passed ; d : average temperature).
