In Japan there are two known species of stenopsychids, namely, Stenopsyche griseipennis McLachlan and Parastenopsyche sauteri Ulmer. They are very common in Japan being found evey-where in the rapid streams through the years round and are members of the important components of the stream of Japan. But their larval specific characters have not been recorded. The writer recently found out the following two important larval characters which separate the two species. The first is that there is a median faint black band present on the clypeus or not, and the second is the relative length of the two acute appendages on the anterior side of the fore-coxa.
