The flight departure and trap capture of marked Spodoptera litura male moths were observed by setting 5 release points near a virgin female trap. The cumulative numbers of take-off and trapped males were both variable, in relation to time, among the release points on the same day as well as among the observation days ; and accelerated flight departure and collective take-off were often observed. The collective departure of males from a release point was sometimes accompanied by a rush of them to the trap at the same time period. The departure and trap capture of the males which were released 2 m apart from the trap seemed to be most strongly influenced by the virgin female trap.
