In this paper I intend to publish a taxonomic revision of the species of the genus Euops (Coleoptera, Curculionidae) from Japan, together with some knowledges on their habits. The results of the study are summarized as belows. 1. The species of the Japanese Euops are as follows : Euops (Kobusynaptops) pustulosa Sharp E. (Synaptops) polita Roelofs E. (S.) punctatostriata Motschulsky =E. (S.) phaedonia Sharp, syn. nov. E. (S.) lespedezae Sharp E. (S.) splendida Dalla Torre et Voss 2. After examining many examples of Euops punctatostriata Motschulsky and E. phaedonia Sharp, I have found that (1) body colour and form of midtibia, which are the specific characters of E. phaedonia described by Voss (1924, '25) and Kono (1927), are of variable natures, falling within the range of successive variations of E. punctatostriata, (2) any specific difference between their habits have not been found. So I arrived at the conclusion that E. phaedonia is surely a synonym of E. punctatostriata. 3. Hitherto, E. lespedezae Sharp has been regarded as the same species of E. splendida Dalla Torre et Voss. After examining many specimens, I conclude that they are distinct species by the following characteristics : A. Colour of pronotum in E. lespedezae is indigo-purple, whereas in E. splendida is yellowish green. B. Length of fore-tibia of male : E. lespedezae………1.2 mm. E. splendida………1.5-1.6 mm. C. The food plants of them are differing. Besides, E. splendida f. unicolorata and E. splendida f. koreana seem to be referable to E. lespedezae. 4. The food plants of the species of the Euops in Japan are as follows : Euops pustulosa……Acer pictum E. polita……………Car pinus Tschonoskii, C. laxiflora E. punctatostriata…Acer pictum, Polygonum spp., Quercus serrata E. lespedezae………Lespedeza spp. E. splendida………Hydrangea cuspidata, Polygonum spp., Viburnum spp., Wistaria spp.
