• Eleven new species of the genus Bactrocera are described from Sri Lanka : B. (Afrodacus) fastigata, B. (Bactrocera) apicofuscans, B. (B.) brunneola, B. (B.) ceylanica, B. (B.) fernandoi, B. (B.) hantanae, B. (B.) nigrofemoralis, B. (B.) perigrapha, B. (B.) profunda, B. (B.) selenophora, and B. (B.) syzygii. B. ceylanica, B. fernandoi, B. hantanae, B. profunda, B. selenophora, and B. syzygii are species agreeing with the definition of the B. dorsalis complex sensu Drew & Hancock (1994). A key to all the known Sri Lankan species of the genus Bactrocera is given.
