Uroleucon nigrotuberculatum (Olive), which is native to North America, has been commonly found on an introduced goldenrod, Solidago altissima, since the beginning of 1990's. Some morphs of the aphid were described based on Japanese materials. Our collection data indicate that the species is momoecious and holocyclic on S. altissima in Japan, but apterous viviparae also hibernate on the plant in the southern Kanto District, central Japan. The hibernating aphids were slightly different from the normal ones in some morphological characters.
