Two new species in the caddisfly family Goeridae are described from Japan : Larcasia akagiae and L. minor. This genus is recorded from Japan for the first time. Immature stages of the two species are also described. These new species are very similar except for some minor differences in male and female genitalia and the morphology of the larval head and thoracic nota. However, their downstream distribution is quite different : L. akagiae inhabits larger mountain streams while L. minor has been collected in spring runs. Both species exhibit a univoltine life cycle with an early spring emergence. The males and females of both species do not show any flight activities but rather run on the stream surface.
