• Foraging for small immature spiders of Araneus abscissus by the pre-founding foundresses of Polistes chinensis was ascertained in the field. Foundresses hunted the spiders which nested on dwarf grasses. This is a first record of the kind of prey animal hunted by the Polistes foundresses who are in the pre-founding phase.
