Two new species of phytoseiid mites were described from Japan: Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) higoensis n. sp. from.bamboo in Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, and Amblyseius (Amblyseius) hirotae n. sp. from Ischaemum anthephoroides (Steud.) Miq. and others in Tottori Prefecture, Honshu. Typhlodromus (Paraseiulus) soleiger (Ribaga), new to Japan, was redescribed on the basis of specimens from Hokkaido. Further, the males of Amblyseius (Amblyseius) koyamanus Ehara et Yokogawa and Amblyseius (Indoseiulus) liturivorus Ehara were described and figured for the first time.
