An anophthalmic (absence of eyeball) mouse mutant was recently developed in our laboratories. This mutant exhibits circadian locomotory activity which freeruns in a 24-hr LD cycle (LD), the constant darkness (DD) and the contant light (LL) within a certain period (about 24.2 hr), showing no sign of being synchronized with the lighting conditions and a temperature cycle. A possibility is mentioned that synchronization between grouped mice is attained by some inter-individual relationship.
