Among the works dealting with the adult organization of Gordiacea, papers on the genus Chordodes are very few in number; they are Grenacher's paper on the female of Gordius ornatus (Chordodes ornatus), Rauther's one on the posterior end of male Chordodes moutoni and Kirjanova's one on the copulatory organ of male Gordiacea. The author studied the abult organization of Chordodes japonensis. So far as the above-mentioned authors described, their results do not differ so much from each other, excepting that Grenacher's "Uterus" was divided into two parts, namely uterus and atrium, and excepting the slight disagreement between Rauther's and the author's descriptions in the distribution of the ventro-lateral muscles; besides, the copulatory organ described by Kirjanova is not found in the male of the present species. Besides, some new following facts can be added to the knowledge of organization of Chordodes: (1)The cerebral ring is observed to exist in both sexes around the fore-gut (Fig. 2 and Fig. 5-1, 2). (2)As Montgomery described, two kinds of cells, "chromophobic cells" and "chromophilic cells, " are observed in the nerve cord (Fig. 1) and sometimes the chromophilic cells are also found among the chromophobic cells of the posterior part of the cerebral ring (Fig. 5-2). However, further histologycal intestigations on the nervous system are necessary. (3)The anterior part of the mid-gut in both sexes is not hollow about three millimeters, but closed by syncytium-like tissue (Fig. 2). (4)The reproductive and digestive organs, hitherto only fragmentarily reported, were comprehensively described.
