• Little is known about the three spined stickleback, Pungitius sinensis, which inhabits Fukui prefecture. Here a brief repord in given of its habitat in Gobuichi-cho, Takefu City and its vicinity. The number of dorsal spines and scute of its body side, which is the characteristic of this fish, have been said to decrease as it distributes to the south from the north. According to our investigation, however, this decreasing tendency in the number of dorsal spines in Fukui has not been observed, but the number agreed with that in Hokkaido. On the contrary, the number of scutes showed this decreasing tendency.
