• Ascidians described and illustrated in "Dobutu Zukan", known widely as Figuraro de Japanaj Bestoj or Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Fauna of Japan, were revised as shown in List I. The type specimen of Sarcodidemmoides misakiense Oka et Willey was rather in a poor state of preservation and it took a lot of effort to clear out the following points: (1)atrial aperture is a large opening as in general species belonging to the subgenus Didemmum, forming no siphon nor atrial languet at the anterior margin, (2)testicular follicle 1, proximal portion of vas deferens coils 8-9 times. These findings seem to be sufficient to prove that the species belongs to Didemmum (Didemmum) and situated near Did. (Did.) pacificum Tokioka and Did. (Did.) areolatum Tokioka, both produce larvae with 12 ampullae in the anterior part of the trunk.
