Spontaneous occurrence of oocyte-like cells was observed in the acetocarmine smear-preparation of the testis of Oxya velox (Acrididae). The specimen in which the oocyte-like cells were found is a male showing no aberrant feature in its external appearance. The oocyte-like cells, four in number forming a group, were found in a single cyst, being surrounded by male germ cells and spermatozoa. They are approximately 120 μ in diameter. The general feature of them is close to that of the young oocyte, bearing a rich ooplasm characterized by the yolk-like granules. But considering from the staining reaction of the nuclear contents it seems probable that the functional activity of the nucleus has already been lost.
