Oesophagus distinctly musclar with swellings, one elongated at middle of oesophagus; the other terminal, pear-shaped and containing a single valvular apparatus. sex separate. Female: The following measurements were made on a gravid female; the body 1.976mm in total length and 0.078mm in maximum width, oesophageal 0.211mm, ratio of body length to maxi. width (α) 21.44, body length to oesophageal length (β) 9.34mm, body length to tail (γ) 5.06, vulva to body length × 100 (υ) 40.7. Anus situated at 0.408mm, from tail end. Tail rounded at middle and then pointed. Tapering portion of tail measures 0.384mm in length. Uterine egg ellipsoid, 0.04 × 0.05mm in diameter, covered with delicate egg-shell; with numerous granules in the egg cell, elsewhere translucent, nuclear portion transparent. Two spicules of equal length measure 0.054mm. Accessory piece absent. Bursa elliptical, supported by 10 paires of lateral rays and a dorsal ray lanciformal at its tip. Habitat: In the body of Incillaria confusa Cockarell. Localities: Sendai and Tokyo. This species is distinguishable from tbe related species of Rhabditis in the bursa, especially in the arrangement and the number of its rays. This species is parasitic in a slug, Incillaria confusa Cockarell. The free living form is bisexual and can be cultured throughout many generations on nutrient media such as decayed slug, or other artifical media commonly used for the cultivation of free living nematodes.
