Static Credit Schemes for ATM Congestion Control needs queueing for each Virtual Circuit. These schemes are feasible and can be practically implemented for short round trip time. But as the round trip time increases (e.g. in WAN), the static credit scheme require too much memory. In dynamic buffer allocation scheme, the available memory is shared among all active VCs, thus minimizing memory requirement drastically, still achieving better performance. With the help of simulation results and analysis we prove that this scheme needs less memory and is stillefficient and reliable among all credit based schemes.
