It is needless to say that the characters of stiff foundation depend upon the original state in which the foundation was flexible. Hereupon, in order to solve the problems concerning bad foundation, the writer studied the flexible soils that deposited in fresh water lakes called by the names of Shinji, Jinjai and Hii-Reservoir. As the results of this experimental study concerning the grain size, consistency, the next conclusions were obtained. 1) The deposits environments have influence on distribution pattern of soil particles at bottom of the lake. 2) Small alteration in hydro nature has seldom influence on consistency of soils. But organic matters which the deposits contain are subjected to the influence of it. For this reason, activities of recent deposits give unusual values in comparision with stiff Alluvium and Diluvium.
