Distribution of fat and its change in the reticulo-endothelial system of fasting and yolk-fedrabbits were studied. After feeding yolk for 275 days, various tissues were studied histochemically. The cells in the system were rich in double refractive fats. But after inanition for 15 days, in most cells only a few lipid granules were found. On the contrary, there took place an increase in cholesterol content in the Kuffer's star cell of the liver. The reticulo-endothelial systems seem to play no role of primary importance in fat metabolism.
