Various doses of electric (AC) stimulation were found to induce a precocious hatching of the rainbow trout embryos at the stages so early as several days before normal hatching. The kinetic studies of the hatching enzyme release as well as the morphological examinations revealed that the hatching enzyme release and the breakdown of the holocrine hatching gland cells occurred in the cempetent embryos immediately (5 to 10min) after the electric stimulation. These facts seem to facilitate the analyses of the secretion mechanism of this exocrine gland cell, which was discussed in this report.
