• Mating experiments were performed among male, female albino and normal tree frogs, Hyla arborea japonica. The albino frogs, a female and 3 males, were those which had been collected from the field at their tadpole stage and raised up to sex maturity in our laboratory. The eggs of the albino female were all white. The offspring of this female mated with an albino male were all albinos. On the other hand, the offspring of the albino female mated with a normal male became gradually pigmented and then had normal appearance, although they were white until the tail bud stage. The offspring of normal females mated with albino males were all of normal eppearance. From these facts it is certain that the albinism in this case is controlled by a simple recessive gene.
