1. Fot the present parasite, a pond-snail of Lymnaea sp. (Fig. 8 & 9) acts as the 1st intermediate host, and usually the tadpole and loach as the 2nd intermediate host. The redia (Fig. 2a) in the liver of pond-snail has the limblike protuberances which are conspicuous in the immature stage (Fig. 2b). 2. Very rarely the pond-snail may still become the 2nd intermediate host, because encysted larvae (Fig. 5) of this parasite were found in the liver of one pond-snail out of 230 examined and again only one larva on the shell in another case. We also succeeded in infecting silver carp and gold fish with cercariae (Fig. 3 & 4), but not Daphniae, larvae of mosquito and midges. 3. The dog is the final host of this parasite and the albino rat has been also experimentally infested. 4. From the view point of life-cycle, the species seems to establish an intermediate form between Echinostoma and Echinochasmus, because both amphibians and fishes can become its 2nd intermediate host, as is the case for Echinochasmus. 5. Though Echinostoma hortense Asada is morphologically related to the present parasite, there are still some decided differences between them, such as those in the number of spines at the head crown (Fig. 4b), the length of oesophagus, the dimension of sexual organs and the length of body (Fig. 1, 4a & c, 7a & b). Moreover this species, as stated before, has a distinct featuer in the life-history. 6. From the reasons above-noted, the present parasite may be considered as a new species of Echinostomidae and therefore we would suggest the name of Echinostoma campi for it. Here the specific name campi was selected, because it was found in the plain of Mukden.
