Castroia inquassata Gomes et Pinto, 1972, is assigned to the genus Phaneropsolus as Phaneropsolus inquassatus (Gomes et Pinto, 1972), comb. nov. (Trematoda: Lecithodendriidae), because it has a spinose body, with a cirrus pouch and a genital pore located near the pharynx. The species is redescribed using the holotype and paratypes with partial emendation of the original description by Gomes and Pinto (1972).
