The effect of male aging on male recombination frequency was investigated in certain strians of Drosophila ananassae and the results strongly suggest that the effect of aging is genetically controlled. One strain, L8, out of four, was distinguished by a progressive decrease in recombination frequency concomitant with increasing age of the male parent. Three others, E22, HW, and TNG, showed no distinctive directional change in recombination frequency throughout 6 to 7 two-days broods, although a small peak in the 3rd brood in E22 and some increase in the last three broods in HW were indicated. Reciprocal crosses had no appreciable effect on the trend of age influence on male recombination; however, there were some differences between reciprocal F_1 males in the amounts of recombination.
