Radiation belt particles and their effects on commercial electronic parts in a radiation environment harsher than that of a geo-stationary orbit were measured with dosimeters on board the Mission Demonstration test Satellite-1 (MDS-1 : TSUBASA in Japanese). The MDS-1 was launched into a geo-stationary transfer orbit (apogee 35, 700 km, perigee 500 km, inclination 28.5 degrees) by JAXA on February 4, 2002, and concluded operations on September 25, 2003. We report on altitude distributions and spectra of protons, electrons, and alpha particles, as well as total dose measurement results.
