Recently, it is getting difficult to accommodate the mobile communication users because the number of the users has grown rapidly. Sophisticated base station array antenna is required, by which multiuser detection can be performed. Our aim is to develop a superior estimation method for the direction of arrival waves and restoration of multiple incoherent sources. To this end, higher order statistics, i.c. cumulants are utilized. Virtual antennas are created and then the aperture size of the array antenna is enlarged. This results in the increment of the number of arriving waves whose directions can be distinguished. By combining the ESPRIT algorithm and virtual antennas the array factor and the received power for each coherent sources can be estimated. Furthermore, the digital information transmitted can be recovered.
