• This paper shows through experimental results that guaranteed minimum-bandwidth ATM cell multiplexing with early packet discard (EPD) provides better TCP/IP traffic characteristics than best effort type unspecified bit rate (UBR) control. Furthermore, when some TCP connections transmit data through a buffer in the ATM cell multiplexer, the paper shows the required buffer size to maintain equal bandwidth allocation for each TCP connection.
