A YAG (Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) phosphor screen is developed by depositing phosphor powder on a YAG faceplate using a centrifugal sedimentation technique. Because of the YAG characteristics of higher thermal conductivity than a conventional glass faceplate, the YAG phosphor screen obtains the performances of very high luminance, high resolution, good contrast ratio and long life, which realizes the large screen HDTV projection desplay. The 3-inch YAG phosphor screen's light spot diameter is 85 μ m at a cathode current of 0.5mA. The green, red and blue YAG phosphor screens reach the luminances of 1.4×10^5cd/m^2, 6.2×10^4cd/m^2 and 8.3×10^3cd/m^2 at a current of 1.0mA and an anode voltage of 29KV, respectively, with a lifetime of 9000 hours.
